sonnet twenty what?
"When, in disgrace with fortune and men’s eyes,
I all alone beweep my outcast state
And trouble deaf heaven with my bootless cries
And look upon myself and curse my fate,
Wishing me like to one more rich in hope,
Featured like him, like him with friends possess’d,
Desiring this man’s art and that man’s scope,
With what I most enjoy contented least;
Yet in these thoughts myself almost despising,
Haply I think on thee, and then my state,
Like to the lark at break of day arising
From sullen earth, sings hymns at heaven’s gate;
For thy sweet love remember’d such wealth brings
That then I scorn to change my state with kings"
i was in the bathroom when i remebered this sonnet by william shakespear. i don’t know what led me to remember it while i was taking a bath. i don’t even know if the words are correct. i just remembered it and began reciting. actually these were not the actual words that were coming out of my mouth. this one is the correct form. i mixed some of it from the work of john milton, "on his blindness
heres the poem i’ve been reciting:
when i consider how my life is spent
i all alone beweep my outcast state
and trouble deaf heaven with my bootless cries
and look upon myself and curse my fate
***curses for not remembering the middle part***
haply i think on thee and then my state
like to the lark at break of day arising
from sullen earth sings hymns at heaven’s gate
***curses again***
that then i scorn to chane my state with kings
what a difference right! i mean i memorized it when i was just third year high school and now i can’t even remember the difference of the two poems.
i realized my mistake when i asked my cousin about the sonnet. she’s working now and she still remembers it. me, i don’t have clue.. i should really start reading these things again..
